What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Believers Victory Center based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Revelation

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ressurection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.

More of what we believe.

Bible
We believe the Bible to be given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, infallible, and God’s revealed word to man.
Scripture
We believe that Scripture teaches that there is only one true and living God who has chosen to reveal Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10 & 11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22).
Redemption
We believe that man is a sinful being in need of redemption (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Psalm 51:5; Ecclesiastes 7:29; John 6:44; Romans 5:12-21; 1 Cor. 2:14).
Virgin Birth
We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God and the son of man, that He came to save man from condemnation of sin by offering His blood as an atonement and making it available to all who exercise faith in Him (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35; John 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21).
Need for a Savior
We believe that because of man’s total inability to save himself, salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is received through sincere, godly repentance, and whole-hearted acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Through being born again, we become new creatures in Jesus Christ. Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (John 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20:
1 Pet. 2:24)
Cleansed
We believe that having been cleansed by the blood of Christ and quickened by the Spirit, it is God’s Will that we should be sanctified daily and be made partakers of His holiness, walking not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, forsaking the very appearance of evil. (Rom. 8:1& 5; Rom. 12:1-2;  2 Cor. 7: 1;  I Pet. 1: 15; 1 Thess. 5 :22)
Baptism
We believe that water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost and is commanded by God. It is subsequent to conversion and not a saving ordinance, but an outward sign of an inward work. (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Acts 2-.38)
Communion
We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s supper as a type of the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is an ordinance showing forth the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. (I Cor. 11:23-33; Luke 22:14-20)
Baptism of Holy Spirit
We believe the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a definite experience, not identical with conversion.  The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to endue the believer with power from on high; to give and to equip him for a practical, efficient, spirit-filled, soul-winning ministry and service. Inasmuch as this is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit, every believer has a right to expect His incoming to be after the same manner as recorded by the Word of God in Bible days. (John 14:16; Acts 1:8; 2:4,38-39; 19:6 )
Gifts of Holy Spirit
We believe that for the edification of the saints and the building up of the church of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit has the following gifts to bestow upon the individual believer: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues, dividing to every man severally as He will. These gifts should be coveted earnestly by all spiritual believers and exercised in the spirit of love. We believe that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long- suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. These should be cultivated in the life of every believer.(1 Cor. 12:7-11, 31; Gal. 5:22-23; John 15:4,8)
Healing
We believe that divine healing was provided by the atonement of Christ Jesus’ death. It is the power of God to heal the sick and afflicted in answer to believing prayer. We believe that God is willing to heal the sick today and does so. (lsa. 53:4-5; Matt. 8:16-17; James 5:14-16; Acts 3:16)
Marriage
We believe that marriage was instituted by God, sanctioned by the Lord Jesus Christ, and commended by St. Paul. We believe that a Christian man or woman should not marry an unsaved person. Having been united by God in holy matrimony, both are bound by Scripture and must follow it carefully. Each situation is weighed by Scripture.  (Mal. 2:10-16; 1 Cor. 6:15; Matt. 19:5-9; Luke 16:18; Heb. 13:4)
Government
We believe that government is ordained of God, and all Christians should be subject to the laws of the land, except those contrary to the revealed will of God. We pledge allegiance and moral and spiritual support to the United States of America. In times of war, the individual’s participation in actual combat and taking of life shall be governed by his own conscience. (Rom. 13:1-7; Acts 5:29; Matt. 5:39-48; Heb. 12:14)
Local Church
We believe that every born-again child of God should identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ, should labor diligently, and should contribute his temporal means toward the spreading of the Gospel here on earth, We believe that tithes (ten percent of one’s income) and offerings should be given into the storehouse of the Lord, which is the local church. (Neh. 13:10-14  Heb. 10:24-25; Acts 2:47 Acts 16:5; Rom. 12:5; Mal. 3:8-12 1;  Matt. 23:23)

5 fold Ministry
We believe in the five-fold ministry gifts: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. God speaks to His body through these ‘gifts” to the church. God did not ordain or establish committees, but individuals, filling one of these five-fold ministry gifts (Ephesians 4:11)
Witness
We believe that as the redeemed children of God we should put forth our utmost efforts to spread the Gospel to every ‘kindred, tribe, and tongue.” (II Tim. 4:1-2; Eph. 5:14-16; Prov. 11:30; Ezek. 3:17-18; John 4:35-37)
Great Commission
We believe that the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ to the entire world is literal, imperative, and binding today. It is the supreme privilege and duty of the church to stress the cause of worldwide missions. (Matt. 9:38; Mark 16:15; Rom. 10:13-15; James 5:20; Ps. 2:8)
Return of Jesus
We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Judgement Day
We believe in the final judgment of the wicked at the Great White Throne, when the dead, both small and great, shall be resurrected to stand before God to receive the reward of their deeds done in the flesh. (Matt. 13:41-43; Rev. 20:11-15)
Separation from God
We believe hell is a literal place of outer darkness, bitter sorrow, remorse, and woe, prepared by God for the devil and his angels, and that there, into a lake that burns with fire and brimstone, shall be cast the unbelieving, the abominable, the murderers, sorcerers, idolaters, liars, and those who have rejected the love of Jesus Christ, whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
(Rev. 14:10; 20:10, 14 & 15; 21:7-8; Matt. 25:41; Mark 9:43-44)
Eternity with God
We believe that heaven is the habitation of the Living God, where Christ has gone to prepare a place for all His children, and where they shall dwell eternally in happiness and security with Him. (1 Cor. 2:9; John 14:2; Rev. 7:15-17; 21:4; 22:5)
