our story 

Believers Victory Center has been in existence since the fall of 1999, beginning with a small group of individuals who sought God earnestly. Their spirits cried out for “more” in their Christian faith and church experience after encountering God at a local revival led by Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth. After receiving the blessing of their current pastor, this group dedicated a year to foundational private teaching and training with Pastor Shuttlesworth, focusing on discipleship before going public with a week-long tent revival.

With the guidance and support of Pastor Shuttlesworth, the ministry launched in a small room at the Moorefield Bingo Hall. Shortly thereafter, under the leadership of the founding pastor, Christopher Whetzel, the ministry continued to grow and eventually moved to and purchased the old Dollar General on Main Street.

Over the next 20 years, the ministry worked to deepen God’s presence in the community through teaching, worship, and outreach. They purchased 66 acres along Corridor H Highway to prepare for a new facility, which opened in the fall of 2016.

In January 2021, Pastor Rich and Ellie Sparks became the Senior Pastors of Believers Victory Center. They are guiding the congregation back to its foundational revival roots and rebuilding in the spirit of Nehemiah after going through challenging times between pastors and the global impact of the pandemic. There is a strong sense of "More" than ever, characterized by tangible freedom, liberty, worship, and solid teaching of the Word. This environment is empowering both individuals and leaders to step into their callings. The church is experiencing growth not only in numbers but also in spiritual health, which is influencing not just the local community but also the broader region for Jesus.
